Marine Construction Carpenter/Piledriver
Smith Marine, Inc. – New England based Marine Contracting WBE/DBE Certified Business is seeking an experienced Marine Construction Carpenter/Piledriver for a full-time, benefit-eligible position. We specialize in private, commercial, and prevailing wage projects, offering competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package.
Responsibilities:
- Perform pier and piling work (timber and steel)
- Build and repair wood piers, docks, and framing
- Set and pour concrete forms, install pilings, and seawalls
- Operate small boats around worksites
- Load/unload materials and handle tools such as extractors, hammers, air, and power tools
- Maintain a focus on quality workmanship, productivity, and safety
Requirements:
- Proven experience in marine construction
- Physical ability to work on water all day in varying weather conditions
- Strong team collaboration and situational awareness
- Competence with small vessel operation and handling tools/equipment
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check
- Ability to pass a fit for duty pre-employment exam and pre-employment / random USCG drug screen
Compensation:

This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position following the probationary period.
Responsibilities:
- Operate American and Manitowoc friction cranes for marine construction projects
- Perform skilled piledriving and clamshell operations with precision and safety
- Work collaboratively with the team to meet project goals and timelines
- Maintain and inspect equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance
- Execute tasks in varying weather conditions and challenging marine environments
Requirements:
- Valid MA 1A Hoisting Engineer license and NCCCO certification
- Extensive experience operating friction cranes (American and Manitowoc models)
- Proven knowledge of piledriving and clamshell operations in a marine construction setting
- Strong awareness of safety protocols and equipment maintenance practices
- Ability to work well in a team and adapt to dynamic job site conditions
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check

USCG Licensed Master of Towing Upon Oceans
Smith Marine, Inc. – New England based Marine Contracting WBE/DBE Certified Business is seeking an experienced USCG Licensed Master of Towing Captain to join our team. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position following the probationary period, offering the opportunity to contribute to towing and diverse marine construction projects across the region.
Responsibilities:
- Operate towing vessels safely and efficiently in support of marine construction projects
- Maneuver and position barges, cranes, and equipment in challenging environments
- Oversee vessel operations and crew while ensuring compliance with USCG regulations and company safety standards
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, maintenance checks, and ensure proper vessel upkeep
- Collaborate with project teams to meet schedules and operational requirements
- Adhere to safety and environmental protocols at all times
- Adhere to travel schedules as necessary based on job requirements and location.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check

Requirements:
- Valid USCG Master of Towing License
